Instructional Hockey
The Newburyport Youth Hockey League was established to teach ice skating and the sport of ice hockey to children up to and including high school age. We are a parent-led, volunteer, non-profit organization.
Ages
Appropriate players at least 5 years old who have completed at least one year of Learn-to-Play. Players must be able to skate on their own, wearing full hockey equipment.
When
Program runs from the middle of September through the end of February each year.
Where
All practices and games will be held at the Graf Rink in Newburyport
Practices
Practices are held on Tuesday and Friday nights throughout the season.
Teams practice 2 times per week and have the option to continue participating in Learn to Skate classes on Sunday mornings.
Games
Teams participate in the Graf Rink Instructional League.
Teams will play 20-25 games over the course of the season and will usually fall on Saturday afternoons/evenings.
Jerseys
Jerseys and Club Jackets will be provided to the players as part of the program.
2024-2025 INSTRUCTIONAL
NYHL Instructional Hockey:
Early Bird Discount: $1,300/player
Two (2) practices (primarily Tues and Fri evenings) per week at the Graf Rink in Newburyport;
One (1) Cross-ice game (primarily Saturday late afternoon/evening) at the Graf Rink per week in the Graf Instructional Cross-Ice League. 25 games total as determined by the league;
Optional participation in the weekly NYHL Learn to Skate Program (LTS) each Sunday at the Graf Rink;
The Instructional Hockey Program typically runs from September - February each year.
Please note: In addition to the annual fees, all players are required to register with USA Hockey. USA Hockey registration must be completed prior to NYHL Registration.
